Before I started high school, I was very hesitant to start a foreign language. I did not want to have to take a world language class in 7th and 8th grade because I felt like I should be focused on my other classes. I knew I would probably regret it once I started high school, but I tried not to think about that. I wanted to make got a chance to do all the other fun elective classes, whether it was cooking, art, yearbook, or video production. The last thing on my mind was spanish, german, and french. Of course once 9th grade comes around, I heavily regretted not taking another language class. Freshman year I had no fun classes. I was stuck with Spanish all year.
When I first started Spanish 1, I felt that it was a piece of cake. The first quarter was extremely easy. I was killing all the vocab quizzes. I definitely had an "A" in the class. It was to the point where I didn't have to study for the quizzes, unlike my other classes. Then my first final came. I forgot everything by the time finals came around. I was extremely nervous, I didn't know what to do. I pretty much failed my first final exam in Spanish 1. I definitely studied more for the second final exam that year. I used flashcards on Quizlet. It help a lot. Even though it was tough, I finished that year with an "A" in Spanish. Then sophomore year came, and that's when I wanted to give up. Spanish 2 was way too hard for me. It was hard for me to focus. I just wanted Spanish 2 to be over. I was the student who didn't want to take another language. I did it for the two credits. I ended up doing worse than I did my first year in Spanish. If you are thinking about taking a language, pay attention, study, don't give up, study more, and use Quizlet. It helps!
